Karachi Braces for Dry Weather and Elevated Pollution Levels in the Next 24 Hours

KARACHI: The Meteorological Office predicts dry and partly cloudy weather in Karachi over the next 24 hours, as reported by Pakistan News on Saturday.

Karachi Sindh Weather Forecast

The city is expected to encounter light fog during the night.

The recorded minimum temperature in the city stands at 13.5 degrees Celsius, with daytime maximum temperatures expected to range between 26 to 28 degrees Celsius, according to the weather department. Karachi is currently ranked as the 4th most polluted city in the world, with an air quality index (AQI) reading of 225 for particulate matter.

Earlier, health experts characterized Karachi's air quality as "very unhealthy" and advised citizens to use masks and limit outdoor activities, especially during peak pollution hours.

It's worth noting that an AQI between 151-200 is considered unhealthy, while a reading between 201 to 300 is deemed more harmful, and an AQI exceeding 300 is considered extremely hazardous.

Experts attribute the rise in pollution during winter to the increased weight of the air, causing harmful particles in the atmosphere to descend and contribute to higher pollution levels. Consequently, a layer of polluted particles, including significant amounts of carbon and smoke, envelops the region.
